Safe and Sound...
AboutFace uses only professional, high quality, waterbased face paints from suppliers such as Snazeroo, Mehron, Wolfe Brothers, Grimas, Kryolan and Fardel. All our paints are FDA, EU and EEC approved and designed for use on the face and body. The paints are hypoallergenic and contain agents which work against yeast, mold and bacteria, and are easily removed from skin and clothing.
We use only Cosmetic Grade polyester glitters, with no metallic content, which are safe for skin and eyes.
We adhere to strict standards of hygiene. Clean sponges are used for each face, and brushes are rinsed thoroughly in clean water, which is changed regularly during jobs. Sponges and brushes are washed with hot water and specialist soap between events. We use wet-wipes to clean dirty faces before starting work, and use an alcohol-based hand cleaner regularly between faces.
As with any cosmetic product, face paint may cause a skin reaction in a small number of people. In such cases the paint should be removed immediately using mild soap and warm water. Face paint should always be cleaned off after 2 or 3 hours and children should never be allowed to go to bed with a painted face. Aboutface accepts no liability for adverse reactions to the products used - if in doubt, please ask for a patch test and wait 30 mins. before being painted.
Face paints are recommended for use on children aged three and over. We will not paint full faces on children under three, but painting on the cheek, hand or leg may done on children aged between two and three at the parents own risk. We will not paint children under two years of age.
No person with cold sores, conjunctivitis, open wounds or any apparent skin disease on the face will be painted. We must also decline to paint any person who is obviously suffering from an infectious illness, cold or flu.
Adult consent is required before any young child can be painted. At private parties the client will be deemed responsible for informing the parents of the children present that face painting will be available, and for informing the face painter if any child cannot be painted.
Face painting should be fun - we will only paint children who want to be painted and who are able to sit reasonably still. We will not paint an unwilling child, regardless of what the parent may want!!
Despite being CRB checked, our facepainters are not childminders. Parents are responsible for their own children at all times, and at least one adult must be in attendance at all times at private parties.
We will not paint faces, words or symbols which we deem to be inappropriate or offensive, or which may cause offense to others. Team badges, colours and associated symbols will only be painted at appropriate sporting events.
We may, occasionally, ask permission to take digital photographs of the faces we paint. Such photographs will be retained for the use of AboutFace and it's agents, and will not be transferred to any third party without permission. We may display photographs on this or other face painting websites, use them for advertising purposes or for entry into face painting competitions. Adult consent will be requested before any child is photographed.
AboutFace operates a policy of Zero Tolerance to violent and abusive behaviour.
